Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist

Deirdre is a skilled and experienced practitioner trained in using cognitive behavioural psychotherapy – an evidence-based therapeutic approach recommended by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE).

Deirdre is fully accredited with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP), and is a member of the British Psychological Society (GBPsS).

As well as a Postgraduate Diploma in CBT, Deirdre also has a Masters in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy during which the focus of her dissertation was how best to adapt CBT for individuals with an autism spectrum condition.

Within her practice, she works in collaboration with clients to build a warm, empathetic therapeutic relationship based on shared goals in order to support individuals to maintain good long-term mental health.

In addition to her role as a psychotherapist, Deirdre is a Neurodevelopmental Specialist and Autism Assessor, trained and experienced in using the gold-standard clinical tools: the ADOS-2 and ADI-R.

She is very experienced in working with neurodiverse individuals in a therapeutic capacity, adapting CBT as required to meet their specific needs.
