What is a Bupa Platinum consultant?

We introduced the Bupa Platinum consultants category in response to feedback from our health insurance customers. They wanted help making a more informed choice about their care.

Platinum consultants have a proven track record, they:

  • deliver care in line with medical best practice
  • play an important role in managing healthcare cost
  • help to keep premium increases down

There are three criteria a consultant needs to meet to become a Bupa Platinum consultant. Once you meet the criteria, you'll become a Platinum consultant automatically.

How do I become a Bupa Platinum consultant?

You don't have to apply to become a Bupa Platinum consultant. If you're an existing Bupa consultant and meet our three criteria you'll become one automatically.

To become a Platinum consultant you need to:

  • Be a member of the Open Referral Network
  • Be fee assured
  • Have at least 20 Bupa patients start a clinical pathway with you (in a 3-year period)

What does being fee assured mean?

All of our Bupa Platinum consultants are fee assured. This means consultants charge within the benefit limits outlined in the Schedule of Procedures Bupa patients won't receive extra bills for their treatment, as long as it's covered by their policy or scheme.

To become fee assured, you need to be in a fee assured agreement with us.

What are the benefits to consultants?

As a Bupa Platinum consultant, you'll have a wider network of patients to treat. Our customers will have an increased visibility of you, too.

We introduced the Bupa Platinum consultants in response to feedback from health insurance customers. Our Bupa Platinum criteria mean that we can offer customers the reassurance they need when finding a consultant.
