What is Invisalign treatment?
Discreet, comfortable and effective, Invisalign treatment uses a series of custom-made clear aligners to straighten teeth without the need for metal wires and brackets. They’re worn for most of the day and removed when you eat or clean your teeth, and they’re barely noticeable – which makes them popular with people who might feel self-conscious about wearing traditional metal ‘train track’ braces.
How long does Invisalign treatment take?
Invisalign aligners come in a series of custom-made trays, each designed to gently shift the position of your teeth. Each aligner is worn for about two weeks, and a full treatment journey will typically last between 12-18 months (although the length of treatment will depend on your specific needs).

Preparing for Invisalign aligners
Step one: You’ll have an in-person consultation with a dentist or orthodontist, who will examine your smile and dental health to see if Invisalign treatment is right for you.
Step two: Your clinician will use an intraoral scanner to make a 3D image of your mouth, which allows them to design a personalised treatment plan for your straighter smile.
Step three: The expert team at Invisalign will custom-make your aligners, and your journey to a straighter smile can begin.
Your Invisalign treatment journey
Your aligners will be fitted by your dentist, who will make sure they’re comfortable. They’ll also give you advice on how to clean your aligners and how often they need to be changed.
You’ll be booked in for an appointment every few weeks to check things are moving along as planned.
You’ll need to wear your aligners for 20-22 hours each day, but you can remove them to eat, drink, brush and floss. Your treatment will be over once you’ve worn every set of aligners.
Aftercare for Invisalign aligners
After your treatment is over, you’ll need to wear a retainer to make sure your new straighter smile is kept in place.
Your dentist will create a custom-made retainer that fits your new smile perfectly, and they’ll let you know how often you need to wear it.
