Eligibility updates for switch clients with heart or circulatory conditions

We’re committed to helping more people live healthier lives – and to helping you provide the best possible service for our customers. That’s why from July 14th, we’re making an important change to our BBY switch criteria.
What’s changing?
To assess customer eligibility for switch, we ask four triage questions – one of which is: “In the last five years, have any of the applicants had a heart or circulatory condition that’s not already included on their existing scheme? (E.g. coronary artery disease, angina, heart attack, stroke, abnormal heart rhythm, blood clot or aneurysm, heart valve disorder, uncontrolled high cholesterol/blood pressure etc?)”
If a customer answered ‘yes’ to this question, they were previously ineligible for switch. Now, they will be eligible to switch from another UK provider – but these conditions will be excluded from the cover.
If a switch customer does answer ‘yes’, they’ll be asked to complete an application form to confirm their condition and symptoms.
Why are we making these changes?
You asked, and we acted. This was one of the most requested changes by the team members who attended our Intermediary Connection Day in March, so we listened to your feedback to improve our offering.
How will this help you?
You’ll now be able to offer Bupa to even more of your clients who want to switch their health insurance, creating new sales opportunities. This change will drive additional registrations and strengthen our offering within the market.
If you have any questions about this change and what it means for you, contact your Business Development or Account Manager.
