Face-to-face GP now available to all Bupa By You customers at no extra cost

Health is face-to-face GP appointments for everyone

Everyone deserves access to the care that suits them best. For some, that means speaking to a GP in person.

That’s why we’ve upgraded all consumer health insurance policies to include 15 minute face-to-face GP appointments at a Bupa health centre, for everyone. So whether it’s over the phone, video, or face-to-face, clients can get the right care for them.

What’s new?

We’ve expanded our health insurance offering to include the face-to-face GP benefit at all policy levels. GP appointments also now come at no extra cost - we’ve removed the £20 charge, making doctor time more accessible for everyone.

Who benefits from the change?

The change to face-to-face GP appointments applies to all new and existing Bupa By You customers, no matter their policy level. This also means no excess is paid and there is no impact on outpatient allowances or no claims discount/low claims bonus.

How do you book a face-to-face GP appointment?

It’s easy for clients to book an appointment.

  • First they’ll choose their preferred Bupa health centre at finder.bupa.co.uk.
  • Then they’ll call us on 0800 028 1815*, quoting the code we send them and their membership number. They can choose an appointment time that suits them and we’ll book them in.

*Lines are open 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 4pm on Saturdays.

What’s included in the appointment?

Everyone gets a 15-minute appointment with a GP at their chosen Bupa health centre. The appointment provides focused time with a Bupa GP to discuss one minor illness or concern. If needed, it could also include in-centre tests, such as bloods and swabs.

Any recommended tests will be completed on the same day during the appointment, where possible. This could mean the appointment lasts longer than 15 minutes.

Tests include:

  • Blood tests
  • ECGs
  • Urine and stool samples
  • Saliva or sputum
  • Swabs

Test results will be provided over the phone. If a follow-up discussion is needed, another GP appointment will be required.
