An important change to the health and lifestyle discount

02 December 2025

Everything we do is focused on our customers. That’s why we’ve made some important changes to the way the health and lifestyle discount is applied - creating a fairer, more flexible pricing policy.

What’s changed?

Currently, every member on a policy must meet the criteria of the health and lifestyle discount for it to apply at all. From December, we’re introducing a new model to apply the discount individually. This means every adult (aged 18+) on the policy who meets the criteria will receive their own 10% discount. You’ll be able to apply the discount to eligible customers via the CIP portal.

This change will come into effect for any quotes with a start date from 5 January, 2026 onwards. Quotes for this date can be made from the 6 December 2025 (30 days in advance) – and you’ll be able to apply the discount to eligible customers via the CIP portal.

Why have we made this change?

This new discount model creates a fairer, more flexible policy that reflects the lifestyle choices of each individual. Eligible customers can now benefit from the discount, even if the people they share the policy with don’t meet the criteria.

How will this help you?

It proves to your clients that every Bupa customer is treated as an individual and will have a policy that’s tailored accordingly. If they meet the health and lifestyle criteria, they receive the discount – it’s as simple as that. They don’t need to worry about the lifestyle choices of other policy members affecting their monthly price.

Where do I find more information?

We’ve put together a one-page guide (PDF, 1.4MB) and frequently asked questions document (PDF, 0.05MB) to explain everything about the new discount model and recap the eligibility criteria.
