We’re the first major UK health insurer to offer preventive care as standard
Your clients shouldn’t have to wait for a symptom or scare before they get expert care.
That’s why we’re introducing My Prevention Plan.* It’s another way we’re moving healthcare beyond simply treating illness to helping prevent it and assess future risk.
With this new benefit, your clients can get to know their health risks sooner, access clinically-guided support and take all-important early action.
My Prevention Plan is included in all new and renewing personal and small business policies ^ from 1 September 2026.
*Available to everyone named on your client's policy aged 18 or over. Each person named on their cover must have had at least 12 months’ continuous cover with a Bupa health insurance policy to be eligible for the plan. The tests we offer may vary based on their age, family history, sex at birth, existing health conditions and clinical risk factors.
^Does not include Bupa's consumer Unit and Standard products, the prompt diagnosis variant of BBY or third-party products e.g. Saga.
What is My Prevention Plan?
It’s a new benefit that helps your clients understand their future risk of developing breast cancer, cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes.
Depending on their results, they could be offered genetic testing and preventive treatment tailored to them, like coaching, risk-reducing surgery or up to £400 towards a weight management plan.†
† Only available once per customer lifetime.
How do your clients access it?
My Prevention Plan is a truly personalised service, so each client’s journey will be different depending on their unique needs. But here’s a closer look at what they can expect:
-
Pre-assessment questionnaire
Your client will start by answering a few questions about their health in the My Bupa app. -
Preventive assessment
This takes place in person with a health adviser at a Bupa health centre. It includes a blood test. A £100 payment is usually required for this, but if they attend their appointment before 1 December 2026, there will be no extra cost. -
Clinical review
Bupa healthcare professionals will advise the best next steps for your client. This may include DNA testing† and appointments with GPs, genetic counsellors or health advisers. -
Targeted treatment
Your client may be referred for preventive intervention or treatment tailored to their needs, if clinically necessary. This could include lifestyle coaching, weight management support and/or risk-reducing surgery. -
Ongoing preventive support
Depending on your client's individual needs, they may be offered follow-up appointments, screening scans for breast cancer and/or risk-reducing medicine.
