Affordable care Affordable care

You don’t need to be a Bupa member or have health insurance to stay in our care homes, our doors are open to everyone.

Many people imagine that care homes in the independent sector are only for the wealthy. This is not
the case. You may be surprised to know that:

  • more than 70 percent of residents in care homes have most or all of their fees paid by their Local Authority
  • the majority of care homes in the UK are owned privately

Bupa cares for over 18,000 older people in the UK. Some of our residents are privately
funded but over 75 percent receive contributions towards their care from Local Authorities
or Primary Care Trusts.
