The care we offer

The home provides exceptional standards of care. Registered nurses and care assistants provide professional, individualised support in a warm, welcoming environment. We offer care to suit individual needs, including nursing, residential, convalescence, palliative care and respite. We also offer specialist Parkinson’s disease care and care for those with dementia.

Manager information

The home manager at Premier Court is Jane Hepton. Jane is a qualified nurse who has worked in care services for over 12 years and has specialist experience in palliative care.

Food

Soon after every resident arrives at Premier Court, we will discuss all their food needs and preferences and our experienced chef will then cater for those individual requirements. Appetising meals are freshly prepared, nutritionally checked, and cooked using only the fresh ingredients. A tasty, varied and seasonal menu is provided each day. Residents requiring food between 6.30pm and 6.30am will be fully catered for via our Night Bite menu. Residents can enjoy sociable mealtimes in the dining room overlooking the sensory garden, or eat in the privacy of their own room, if they prefer.

Activities

Taking into account residents’ interests and levels of ability, our activity co-ordinator ensures that there is always something stimulating and interesting for everyone to do. Daily activities include arts and crafts, movement to music, flower arranging and gardening. We encourage and support residents if they wish to continue with any existing hobbies. Visiting entertainers often perform at the home, and residents also enjoy pub lunches, outings to garden centres, and shopping trips.

Types of care

  • Residential
Residential homes provide accommodation, meals and personal care. Personal care can include help with bathing and dressing. It offers support for those who are finding it difficult to cope at home without help. Or for those who need more help than their carers are able to provide. Residential care does not generally provide nursing care for any medical conditions. The minimum age for admission is normally 65. However, you should check with individual homes as some may accept younger residents.
  • Respite
Respite care can offer a welcome break for you and/or your carer and can be provided in most care homes, offering residents a temporary stay for perhaps a week or two. It can also help to cover periods of time when a carer is unavailable. Many Bupa care homes offer respite care if there is a room vacant.
  • Palliative
This is active, compassionate care of the chronically and terminally ill, directed towards improving the quality of life. Palliative care particularly focuses on the control of pain and symptoms. These specialist approaches include the individual, the family, carers and friends, and extend to bereavement and grief.
  • Parkinson's
Parkinson's disease is a movement disorder caused by a shortage of chemical transmitter (dopamine) in the brain. People with Parkinson's disease develop stiffness, tremors and slow movement that can become worse over time. Some homes offer specialist care for people with conditions such as Parkinson's and Huntington's. We can also care for adults with learning disabilities who require a specialist supervised environment.
  • Convalescence
Homes that offer short term care for people recovering from illness or an operation.
  • Nursing
In addition to accommodation, meals and personal care, Nursing homes have qualified nurses in constant attendance. Some may provide more specialist care for specific conditions. A nursing home will generally charge higher fees than a residential home because it offers care by qualified nurses. However, the NHS now makes a contribution to nursing care fees. The minimum age for admission is normally 65. However, you should check with individual homes as some may accept younger residents.
