Important updates to Bupa Dental insurance products from 1 December 2026
We're introducing a range of enhancements to our Dental Plan and Dental Choice products for new business and renewals from 1 December 2026. These changes are designed to deliver greater value for your employees, enhance cover and make it easier to understand and use their dental benefits.
Key enhancements to Dental Plan
For employees covered under Dental Plan All Included, X-rays at Bupa Dental Care practices will now be covered in full, even if their annual X-ray allowance has been used.
We've also made the following improvements:
- Increased benefit allowances for scale and polish appointments and X-rays across all levels of cover.
- Increased filling allowances across all levels of cover.
- Dental scans will now be covered through the major restorative treatment allowance.
- Enhanced emergency treatment cover. Employees can now claim up to £500 per emergency and claim for up to two emergencies per policy year.
- Eligible NHS treatment is now fully covered up to NHS band limits across all levels of cover.
Key enhancements to Dental Choice
We've also made a number of enhancements to Dental Choice to provide even greater support for employees' oral health:
- Increased benefit allowances for preventative treatment, including routine examinations across all levels of cover and scale and polish treatments across Choice 1 to 4.
- Improved and simplified X-ray benefits, with increased allowances and clearer benefit descriptions.
- Inlay, Onlay and Porcelain veneer benefits have been simplified into a single annual allowance, making cover easier to understand, while also increasing benefit limits.
- Crown and bridge benefits have been combined into one annual allowance at the higher cover level, with posts and repairs now included.
- Enhanced emergency treatment cover, with employees able to claim up to £500 per emergency and for up to two emergencies each policy year.
- Eligible NHS treatment is now fully covered up to NHS band limits across all levels of cover.
Broader policy enhancements
We're also strengthening policy cover by:
- Covering prescription charges prescribed by a dental professional.
- Providing cover for replacement lost or stolen dentures.
- Expanding support for specialist dental devices for children.
- Updating sports injury cover wording relating to mouthguard use during contact sports.
