Margaret Chipperfield, resident at Warren Lodge Bupa Care Home, has recently celebrated her 100th birthday complete with 100 cards from local schools and 100 daffodils from her friends and carers at the care home.

Margaret’s birthday celebrations were organised by Angela Thomas, Resident Experience Manager at Warren Lodge Bupa Care Home, who organised for St Mary’s CE School and Smarden Village School to make 100 birthday cards for Margaret.

The care home team also organised for a floral display comprised of 100 daffodils, Margaret’s favourite flower. Her birthday celebrations were topped off with a celebration for her and her family to enjoy together, which included a delicious buffet at the home.

Cassie Smith, Margaret’s granddaughter, commented: “We had a wonderful day celebrating my Nan’s birthday, it is a day I will never forget. I have fond memories going to stay with her and walking along the beach and going to the sweet shop. I just want to say a big thank you to everyone who was involved in making it such a special day, especially the lovely team at Warren Lodge who made the display of 100 daffodils.”

Akin Oyelekan, Home Manager at Warren Lodge commented: “We had a wonderful time celebrating Margaret’s birthday. We were so pleased that the local school children wrote the beautiful cards for Margaret and the team coming together to make the beautiful flower display. Celebrating residents’ milestones is incredibly important to us at Warren Lodge, they really do boost well-being and bring such happiness to everyone in the home.”

Margaret was born in Peckham, London, on the 27th of March in 1923 and grew up with three sisters. In 1942, she married her beloved late husband, David, and moved to Barnehurst in Kent. They went on to have two sons, Michael, who was born in 1943, and Anthony, born in 1950, before moving to Crayford, Kent, in 1951, where they lived happily together for 20 years.

The couple then moved to Hampshire before moving back to Kent in the early 1980’s, and they enjoyed 72 years of marriage together. After David sadly passed away, Margaret moved back to Hampshire to be closer to her sons before moving to Warren Lodge, Ashford, in 2019. Margaret now has seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren who she adores.
