Rescue dog brings smiles aplenty to local care home residents
Residents at Cottingley Hall Bupa Care Home have recently welcomed visits from Harvey, a rescue dog, who has brought smiles aplenty to staff and residents alike.
Harvey was rescued by Megan Crabtree, Head of Care at Cottingley Hall, six months ago from Woodhaven Kennels in Leeds and he is now a regular visitor at the care home, bringing joy to its residents.
An 11-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Harvey enjoys treats, cuddles and snoozing during his visits to Cottingley Hall, where residents are able to spend quality time with him during Megan’s shifts.
Both staff and residents at the care home are thrilled that Harvey has become a frequent visitor, and he is now a much loved member of the Cottingley Hall family.
Two residents, Brian Cryer and Bernard Denny have a particularly special bond with Harvey. Bernard commented: “I have always loved Staffordshire Bull Terriers, Harvey is an absolute softy and gorgeous, I happily spend my days cuddling him.”
Brian commented: “Harvey is a fantastic dog; I love playing with him as he is so lovely. He is a wonderful addition.”
Megan Crabtree, Head of Care at Cottingley Hall, commented: “I am over the moon that Harvey is bringing so many smiles to my colleagues and our residents, he equally loves all the attention and cuddles he gets from everyone. He has been with us and at the home for over six months now, and he truly is part of our Cottingley Hall family. Animal therapy sessions are proven to be beneficial to care home residents and play an important part in boosting their wellbeing – I’m so happy that Harvey brings them as much joy as they bring to him.”
Staff and residents at Cottingley Hall are looking forward to continuing to welcome Harvey into the home over the coming weeks and months.
