Local care home celebrates launch of new café with MS Society

15 March 2024

Staff and residents at Copper Beech Bupa Care Home have enjoyed their first coffee morning after launching a new café in collaboration with the MS Society.

The coffee morning provided a platform for residents and people from across the community living with MS, to share stories, chat through issues surrounding multiple sclerosis (MS), as well as learn more about the condition. The home have confirmed that it was a great success and that they are already planning the next coffee morning which is open for anyone to come along.

The launch coffee morning and subsequent monthly events aim to give those living with MS, their partners, friends, and families the opportunity to meet up for a chat and a cuppa. The home will also have experienced nurses and carers on hand to provide information as well as practical and emotional support.

One resident, Joan Hill, aged 91 commented: “I found the morning very interesting learning and understanding more about MS. It was lovely to meet new people in such a supportive environment.”

Hasib Khan, Home Manager at Copper Beech Bupa Care Home, added: “We are very pleased to be launching this new initiative and supporting MS Society. We are confident these coffee mornings will go some way to support our residents living with the condition as well as others in the area. We are always looking to support our residents who have been diagnosed with MS in the best way possible, so any new initiative that could make even the slightest difference, as well as support the local community, is always worth exploring.”
