Cheshire care home calls out to community for 102 cards for adored resident’s 102nd birthday

Carers at Brookview Bupa Care Home in Alderley Edge are calling out to the local community to send 102 cards for Christina Roberts, a beloved resident who will celebrate her 102nd birthday on Saturday 29th March.

Brookview is planning an exciting party for Christina for her to enjoy with her family, friends and fellow residents.

Sharon Helliwell-Short, Home Manager at Brookview, commented: “We are all looking forward to celebrating Christina’s 102nd birthday with her. We hope to receive 102 cards from the local community, to make the day even more special and show her how loved she is. Marking milestone birthdays is incredibly important to us here at Brookview. It is a pleasure to see how it brings our residents together.”

Christina was born in Calvinia, South Africa and was a sergeant in the South African Air Force during World War II. After the war, Christina married her husband and moved to the UK. They went on to have two children, and now have three grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

When asked for her secret on living a long and healthy life, Christina answered: “Moderation in all things is key. Make the best of everything in life and don’t forget a little tipple of gin and tonic in the evening!”

Christina is known to be cheerful and upbeat and has lived at Brookview since 2022. Christina loves playing carpet bowls and bingo with her fellow residents, and winning prizes.
