Animals pay special visit to residents at Wirral care home

14 July 2024

The Manor House Bupa Care Home residents were visited by special guests from A-Z Safari in June.

The visit, which included a parrot, snake, rat, tortoise, meercat and owl, created a memorable experience for residents of The Manor House. The event was part of the care home’s monthly pet therapy sessions, which improve residents’ mental stimulation and emotional wellbeing.

Home Manager at The Manor House, Angela Mcard, commented: “It was a lovely afternoon to have A-Z Safari visit us again. The residents all really enjoyed the visit, we gathered in the main lounge so everyone could spend time with the animals.

“Many residents were intrigued by the talking parrot, who loved to entertain and make them laugh. Some residents were fascinated by the snake, while others enjoyed petting the tortoise.”

Resident, Maureen Jones, 84, added: “I love seeing different animals, the talking parrot was especially amusing. He was very clever and loved cuddling up to us, it made my day!”

A-Z Safari is a locally run business that prides itself on putting animals’ wellbeing first.
