Launching DERM by Skin Analytics

07 May 2026

Nothing matters more than a fast, accurate diagnosis. Especially when it comes to cancer concerns.

Which is why we’re proud to be the first UK insurer to bring your clients DERM, the latest in AI technology from Skin Analytics.

It’s a big upgrade to our remote skin assessment service – and an even quicker, smarter way to detect skin cancer. So your clients can get answers on a lesion or mole in minutes, all without leaving the house.

What is DERM?

Deep Ensemble for the Recognition of Malignancy, or DERM for short, is a Class III marked AI as a Medical Device (AIaMD).

In other words, it’s a clinically-approved AI tool that assesses moles and skin lesions without your clients having to leave the house.

All they need to do is take a few photos of the area they’re concerned about and DERM will analyse them in minutes. And don’t worry – its speed doesn’t come before safety. In fact, it has a 98% accuracy across all skin cancers.*†

How does it work?

The process for using DERM is exactly the same as our existing remote skin assessment service pathway.

The only difference is that when your clients register, they’ll choose to have their images reviewed by the AI tool or a dermatologist.

These are the simple steps they should follow:

  • If your client spots a skin concern, they can come to us through Blua, or Direct Access if this is part of their scheme. They can also give us a call after a GP referral.
  • We’ll send them a smartphone with a skin magnifying tool within 24 hours.
  • They should take and submit pictures of the area they’re worried about. Then, they choose whether they’d like DERM or a dermatologist to review.
  • DERM provides a diagnosis in minutes, letting them know if it’s benign or needs a referral. If they choose a dermatologist, they’ll get their results within a day.
  • Your clients can have a call with a Skin Analytics GP about their results, if they choose this option.
