One simple test is all it takes to help your clients take control of their long-term health.

Our Medication Check uses powerful DNA testing to analyse their response to over 100 wide-ranging medicines. So we can help them find a prescription that could be safer and more effective.

It's worth £225 - but from 8 June 2026, we're adding it to all personal and small business policies for new and renewing clients at no extra cost.

What is a Medication Check?

If your clients are taking medicine for a long-term health condition, there's no guarantee it's the most effective one for them.

Almost 99% of us have at least one genetic variation that impacts our response to certain medicines.* That could make them less effective, or increase our risk of side effects.

We think that's the kind of information everyone should know. Which is why we're upgrading our cover to include a Medication Check - a simple at-home DNA test that could help your clients find what's safest and most effective for them.

All they need to do is order, provide a DNA sample, and send it back to us.

How does it help your clients?

The Medication Check is proactive, personalised care, perfect for a range of long-term health concerns like pain relief, cardiovascular disease or mental health conditions.

  • One simple test. A speedy DNA sample is all it takes for your clients to unlock the answers in their bodies. The test is quick and easy to order through the My Bupa app.
  • Clear results. With a full report of our findings, your clients can find a prescription that's truly personal. Plus, if they'd like to talk it all through, access to a digital GP appointment is included.
  • Included in their cover. Our Medication Check is worth £225, but we're adding it to your clients' cover at no extra cost. Because that's the kind of value they deserve.

How do they access it?

Ordering a Medication Check is simple. Here's a quick look at how it works.

  • Order using My Bupa. Your clients just need to log in and we'll ask a few questions to make sure the test is right for them.
  • Take the test. If they meet the criteria, we'll send them a DNA test kit in the post. After completion, they should return it using the prepaid packaging.
  • Get the results. Your clients will receive a full report with their results within four weeks. It'll include a detailed section we recommend they share with their GP.
  • Talk to a GP. If they'd like to talk through their results, your clients can book a digital GP appointment with a Bupa GP.
