Care home resident celebrates milestone 106th birthday
Florence (Flo) Barrett, resident at Wilton Manor Bupa Care Home has recently celebrated her 106th birthday with her friends in the gardens of the home.
To celebrate Flo’s milestone birthday the care home team organised a party in the beautiful sunshine where a spread of her favourite food and cakes including a black forest gateau and cream were enjoyed by all in attendance.
During the celebrations, Flo enjoyed a selection of her favourite music from the 50s and 60s and had a sing and a dance with her friends and family at Wilton Manor. To top off the day, Flo received not one, but two cakes for the momentous occasion, a gold cake baked by Chris Griffiths, Chef at Wilton Manor, and a chocolate and vanilla cake from Marcela, Home Manager at Wilton Manor.
Debra Hughes, Activity Co-ordinator at Wilton Manor, commented: “It was fantastic to celebrate another momentous birthday with Flo. She is a wonderful person who never fails to bring a smile to all of our faces, so we made it our mission to show her how truly special she is. Celebrating milestone occasions is incredibly important to us at the home and it always lifts everyone’s spirits.”
Flo raised her family with her husband, Alfred George, and enjoys reminiscing about trips travelling in Europe together with their son, Graham. Flo is a much loved resident at the home who enjoys listening to music and socialising with residents. Flo received lots of hand made cards from her friends at Wilton Manor.
Flo also received a card from King Charles III to go next to her card from the late Queen Elizabeth II wishing her all the best on her big day.Wilton Manor Bupa Care Home is situated in Southampton and welcomes residents in need of nursing or residential care including those living with dementia.
