Local care home residents celebrate pride month
Staff and residents at The Links Bupa Care Home have enjoyed a party for pride month, hosted in the care home and its gardens.
The afternoon party took place in the grounds of the home where staff and residents were joined by their families for a series of activities. People in attendance were able to enjoy different games including, a pride quiz, balloon bop and sing ‘a’ long as well as have their faces painted with rainbows and the opportunity to take photos in a pride selfie frame.
Refreshments were available for guests, including a pride cake and the afternoon was topped off with entertainment from local drag queen Rougie.
One resident Janet Raymond aged 81 commented: “it was a lovely afternoon, I was joined by family and we enjoyed the beautiful cake and games. My favourite part was the selfie frame and doing different faces to pose.”
Grant Gould, Activity Co-ordinator at The Links and part of the LGBTIQA+ community, commented: “I am incredibly proud to work for a company that empowers all! It was a great party to celebrate pride and I feel incredibly lucky to have the support to organise the event.”
Denise Arthur- Briskham, Home Manager at The Links, commented: “It was fantastic to celebrate Pride Month with the staff and residents and other guests. We had a great turnout and it was a lovely day for it. We really enjoy organising events such as these as they are thoroughly enjoyed by residents, I think a firm favourite this time was the selfie frames and pride rainbow cake.”
