Residents at Waverley Grange Bupa Care Home were recently treated to a visit from Browells Wood Pet Therapy who brought a variety of animals to the home for them to enjoy.
The animals, a dog, guinea pigs, rabbits, a cat, a chicken and even a little lamb, visited the Farnham care home where staff and residents had had enormous fun stroking and interacting with the animals from the comfort of their armchairs. This heartwarming experience brought smiles to the faces of the residents as they petted their furry visitors.
Senior Activities Coordinator Ivanka Valcheva said, “The afternoon was a great success. Everyone enjoyed meeting all the animals. It was a lovely experience, and our residents haven’t stopped talking about it. We’re thrilled to make such beautiful memories for them.”
Resident, Sybil Wenham said, “I really enjoyed the afternoon, especially meeting the lamb. The animals were all so lovely. It was wonderful – a nice treat.”
Pet therapy offers significant benefits for care home residents, as stroking the animals triggers the release of endorphins that provide calming effect.
Browells Wood Pet Therapy is a local business with many years of experience in providing pets with the best standard of care, who deliver animal assisted pet therapy to residential care homes, private and community events.
The visit was so successful that the home has already booked their next visitor – a little pony called Kevin!
