Local care home resident celebrates 102nd birthday
Crossley House Bupa Care Home recently hosted a celebration for beloved resident, Sally Slaven, to mark her 102nd birthday.
Carers and staff at Crossley House wanted to plan something special for Sally’s milestone birthday. When asked what she wanted to do to celebrate, Sally chose afternoon tea with her family, and to have a singalong with her friends and fellow residents. The team also decorated the home for the occasion.
Home manager, Julie Allen, commented: “We had a wonderful day celebrating Sally, it was a pleasure to see her with a smile on her face all day. Marking milestone birthdays is very important to us here at Crossley House, we want those celebrating to feel extra special.”
The home presented Sally with a booklet full of news clippings from the year 1923, the year she was born. She was thrilled with the gift and enjoyed reminiscing with her family. When asked for tips on how to live a long and healthy life, Sally answered: “Just be happy, always look on the bright side and always help others. Then you will lead a happy life and live to be 102 like me.”
Sally has lived at Crossley House for just over two years. She was born in Bradford and has lived there her whole life.
