Care home in Uckfield hosts Country and Western themed summer party

13 August 2026

Residents, relatives and staff at Copper Beech Bupa Care Home in Uckfield recently came together to celebrate the summer with a Country and Western themed party.

The event brought together the home's community in the lounge, garden and other areas to enjoy live music from entertainer Retro Rosie, alongside themed decorations including cowboy hats, balloons and inflatables. Guests also enjoyed ice cream from David Cooke's Ice Cream Van, a regular visitor to the home.

The summer celebration was organised following a vote by residents on their preferred entertainment theme, with Country and Western emerging as the clear favourite. The event gave residents, families and staff the opportunity to enjoy live entertainment and celebrate together.

Commenting on the success of the party, Joanne Draper, Clinical Deputy Manager at Copper Beech, said: "It was wonderful to see our residents, relatives and staff enjoying the day together, with many singing along. The atmosphere was excellent and the entertainment was much appreciated. Events like this are so important for bringing our community together and creating lasting memories for everyone at the home."

Talking about the day, resident June Wells, 78, commented: "It was very uplifting and the music was very good.”

Fellow resident Ginny Tidy, 82, added: "Everybody looked like they were enjoying themselves."

Lifestyle and Wellbeing Coordinator Tia Clarke coordinated the event and worked with Retro Rosie to deliver the themed performance. Retro Rosie has quickly become a favourite entertainer with residents since joining the home.
