Care home residents enjoy Alderley Edge school nativity
Brookview Bupa Care Home residents received a special invitation this month to attend a local school’s nativity play.
Residents and staff at the care home were invited in to watch a nativity at Alderley Edge School for Girls, performed by Reception.
Pupils from the school on Wilmslow Road visit residents at Brookview Bupa Care Home every Monday morning. Reception, children aged 4-5, join the residents in a variety of games and activities, including painting, baking, jigsaw puzzles, singing, reading and conversation.
The weekly visit provides connection and boosts moods for Brookviews’ residents, while educating and entertaining Reception with the activities and conversations had. The relationship between Brookview and Alderley Edge School for Girls has been blossoming for the last 3 years.
One resident, Margaret Beswick, commented: “I look forward to seeing the children every week, they make my day! They teach us a lot and we love listening to their stories. They are all very individual, have their own personalities that shine through, and are always very well behaved, which is a credit to their wonderful teachers.”
Brookview Home Manager, Sharon Helliwell-Short, added: “It’s always a pleasure to host the pupils from Alderley Edge School for Girls – you can easily see how much the visits benefit everyone involved. Our residents were so happy to be able to watch and support their nativity play this year. The performance got everyone into the festive mood! We enjoy a fantastic partnership with the school and look forward to it continuing in 2025.”
