Solihull care home calls out to local community for 100 cards to celebrate residents 100th birthday
Carers at The Priory Bupa Care Home in Solihull are calling on their local community to send 100 cards to a well-loved resident, Elsie Blissett, to celebrate her 100th Birthday on 11th September.
Family, friends, and staff at The Priory are looking forward to celebrating Elsie’s special birthday at the care home. Elsie has a large family, with four children, twelve grandchildren and fourteen greatgrandchildren, who will be visiting from various parts of the country throughout her birthday week.
Home Manager, Cheryl Harbourne, and the rest of the team plan to decorate the home with colourful balloons and banners for the week.
Cheryl commented: “We are excited to celebrate Elsie on her 100th birthday! We hope to receive one hundred cards from our community to show Elsie how incredibly important she is. We plan to decorate her room with them, so she can read them and feel very loved.”
Elsie Blissett was born in Gorton, Manchester and moved to Solihull with her husband in the 1970s. She was an active member of her local church where she led a number of clubs for children, weekly lunches, and events to raise money for various charities.
Elsie has always been active and sociable with good friends from all areas of her life. She worked part time at Baddesley Clinton, a National Trust property.
When asked about her secret to a long and happy life, Elsie shared: “a good breakfast of bacon and egg every morning!”
