Care home teams up with local school for a community litter pick
Edmund House Bupa Care Home have teamed up with The Grange Primary School in Ashby to do a litter pick as part of their ongoing activities together.
Pupils from Year 5 joined residents and set off into the local community picking up over 3 bags of rubbish. The residents had a wonderful time with the children as they chatted throughout the challenge. The children visit the home weekly, during term time, to enjoy activities with the residents such as reading or singing.
One resident, Janet Cook, commented: “The litter pick was great fun with the children and time flew by whilst we chatted away. It was a very satisfying job!”
Another resident, Lilian Mckinell, added: “I thoroughly enjoyed the litter pick, I love spending time with the children and I look forward to their visits every week.”
Home Manager, Michelle Mackenzie, commented: “We love welcoming pupils from The Grange Primary School. The residents get so much joy from spending time with them and the relationship between ourselves and the school is going from strength to strength. Intergenerational activities are incredibly beneficial to our residents and leaves the whole home feeling lifted.”
Residents at Edmund House are looking forward to spending more time with the children over the coming weeks and months.
