Bupa Hospital Outpatient MRI Network

Thank you for your interest in joining our Outpatient MRI Network

We’re committed to providing our customers with access to high quality, high value healthcare. When our customers need an MRI Scan we’ll offer them a choice of hospitals and clinics from our specialist MRI network.

If you’d like to offer Outpatient MRI services to Bupa patients, you need to be a member of our Outpatient MRI Network. This reassures our customers, and referring clinicians, that their scans will be delivered by hospitals and clinics which meet our quality standards. All members of the network need to agree to use industry standard CCSD codes for MRI scans.

Review the terms and fees

Read the Healthcare Service Agreement (PDF, 0.4MB) network terms as they’ll form the basis of your hospital or clinic’s agreement with us. You’ll be able to download a copy that includes your hospital or clinic’s details once you’ve completed the application.

To make sure that our customers continue to receive best value scanning and treatment, each hospital or clinic joining the Outpatient MRI Network needs to agree to fees outlined in the Healthcare Service Agreement (PDF, 0.4MB). These have been set to make sure that the fees we pay are consistent and reasonable, and the prices reflect current market levels.

Please also read our Business Rules (PDF 1.3MB) which will help you as you complete your application.

You'll need the following information to complete your agreement:

  • The name and Bupa provider number(s) of the recognised hospital or clinic in your agreement.
  • The name, company registration number and address of your organisation
  • The name, address, phone number and up-to-date email address of your organisation's representative and authorised signatory.

Complete your application online

It should take no more than 30 minutes.

If you have signed up to our application portal in the past you can log in here.

If you are new please register an account here.

Hospitals and clinics need to have completed a Bupa Core Quality Assessment within the last three years to confirm that they meet the network quality criteria. If this is needed, we’ll contact you separately and let you know.

If you’ve any questions please email us at [email protected]††and we’ll be happy to help.

Sign the agreement

  • Once you've submitted your application, a new Healthcare Services Agreement for MRI services will be created, based on the information you’ve provided.
  • Please read it carefully. If you’re happy with it sign electronically using Adobe e-sign – this means we can renew your contract within two working days. You don’t need any special software and can sign the agreement securely from any computer or device using Adobe Sign, which complies with all E-signature laws.

After you’ve signed it, both you and Bupa will receive a final PDF copy by email.

If we're unable to include your hospital or clinic in the network, we'll write to let you know and explain the next steps.

Have a question?

We renew our network every three years so we can make sure that we’re offering our customers access to high quality, best value scans. Agreements will run until June 2027.

Any Bupa recognised hospital or clinic providing MRI scanning services can apply to join the network.

Hospitals and clinics included in the network will have Outpatient MRI services displayed on their Finder profile (finder.bupa.co.uk). Finder is our online directory of healthcare professionals and services which receives 110,000 visits a week from our customers, GPs and the general public. It’s a great way to market the services hospitals and clinics offer.

The network will run from 1st July 2024 to 30th June 2027.

Yes. All hospitals and clinics need to have completed a Bupa Core Quality Assessment within the last three years to confirm that they meet the network quality criteria.

We’ll be in touch separately if your hospital or clinic needs to complete this assessment.

If we’re able to include your hospital(s) or clinic(s) in the network, we’ll countersign the Healthcare Services Agreement and email you a copy. If we’re unable to include your hospital(s) or clinic(s) in the network, we’ll write to let you know and explain the next steps.

All hospitals and clinics that meet the quality standards, agree to charge standard prices and sign up to our Healthcare Services Agreement for Outpatient MRI services will be included in the network.

We’ll email you a copy of the Healthcare Services Agreement for Outpatient MRI services with your details included in it. All you’ll need to do is click on the ‘review and sign’ link in the email. You don’t need any special software and can sign the agreement securely from any computer or device using Adobe Sign, which is complies with all E-signature laws.

We’ll be in touch before the end of the network contract to let you know the next steps.

When a Bupa patient calls us to pre-authorise an MRI scan, we’ll let them know about the options available to them. We’ll also encourage them to use Finder, our online directory of healthcare professionals and healthcare services, to look up any hospitals or clinics that they’re considering so they can make an informed choice about where to have their scan.

We’ve reviewed prices for MRI scans across the private, NHS and self pay sectors and set our fees to enable hospitals and clinics to provide these services while ensuring customers’ premiums remain affordable. As part of this year’s review, we’ve amended the fees we pay to better reflect standard radiology practice. As a result, we’ve increased fees for two, three and four or more body part scans; fees for a single body part have decreased slightly. We’re also introducing a new coding structure for cardiac MRI to bring these scans in line with clinical guidelines and self-pay rates to make sure we continue to offer good value to Bupa patients.

No. As part of joining the network, all hospitals and clinics agree to the prices which will be in place until the network renews again in 2027.

The prices include all services relating to the delivery of the MRI scanning services for Bupa patients, such as the scan itself, contrast where needed, the reporting, PPE and the radiologist’s fee.
