When your dental consultation just can’t wait

The Bupa Dental Care support line is here to help. We’re ready to help discuss an emergency by phone or video, offer a second opinion or provide reassurance. This service is free, and doesn’t affect your benefit limits. You can use our Bupa Dental Care dentists even if you’re not usually their patient.

If you're struggling to access face-to-face care with your usual dentist, we can also book an appointment for you at a Bupa Dental Care practice.

Virtual oral health check up

If you can't or don't want to visit a dentist face-to-face, you can now choose to book a virtual oral health assessment with various suppliers, including Instant Dentist‡‡.

As a Bupa dental insurance customer, you can then claim the costs back in line with your policy limits. The assessment will use camera and video technology. You won’t speak directly to the dentist, but they’ll review the imagery before creating a personalised report for you. This will include your oral health risks as well as tips for improvement.

Terms and conditions

  1. In these terms and conditions, references to “Bupa” are to Bupa Insurance Limited, which may act through its agent Bupa Insurance Services Limited.
  2. Eligible clients will receive free access to a Bupa Dental Plan Level 1 (the “Dental Plan”) in the first year of cover (the “Offer”) when purchasing a new Bupa Select Company PMI Policy (the “Select Policy”) subject to these terms and conditions. The Offer cannot be used against any other Bupa product or service.
  3. The Offer is available to UK based small or medium sized corporate entities (including, for example, companies, partnerships, and associations) covering between 2 and 249 employees inclusive (“SMEs”) who purchase a new Select Policy directly from Bupa.
  4. The Offer is available to new and switching SME clients and is not available for the following:
  5.     a. SME clients who purchase their Select Policy through an intermediary; or
        b. existing Bupa clients who hold a policy for any Bupa product or service.
  6. The Offer will not be applied in subsequent policy years. If you wish to continue access to the Dental Plan for your employees after the first year of cover, you must request this at renewal of your Select Policy and pay any applicable fees and charges.
  7. The Offer is only available for new and switching SME clients for whom a quote is provided for a Select Policy between 1 November 2021 and 30 November 2021 inclusive. Quotes are valid for 28 days and the Select Policy must start between 1 November 2021 and 30 November 2021 inclusive. Bupa’s standard Terms of Business and Bupa Select Policy Terms & Conditions will apply.
  8. All employees (main members) covered by the Select Policy from the inception date (excluding dependents) will be eligible to access the Dental Plan during the first year of cover as long as they continue to be covered by the Select Policy. Employees that join the Select Policy after the inception date, that leave their employment or otherwise stop being covered by the Select Policy will not be eligible to access the Dental Plan.
  9. When calculating renewal prices for a Select Policy, Bupa considers additional factors such as (but not limited to) claims history, age of members, the rising cost of healthcare and Insurance Premium Tax, which will be factored in to each year’s renewal subscription.
  10. Bupa reserves the right to decline to offer a Select Policy in its absolute discretion and Bupa’s decision regarding any aspect of this promotion is final.
  11. Bupa reserves the right to cancel, suspend, amend or withdraw the Offer at any point without prior notice.
  12. The Offer is non-exchangeable, non-transferable, has no cash value/alternative and cannot be used in conjunction with any other promotions or offers except for Bupa’s Fixed Price Plus (the “Fixed Price Offer”) which allows new SME clients to fix the price of the Select Policy for 2 years subject to separate terms and conditions. The Fixed Price Offer is not available for the following:
  13.     a. SME clients who are switching from an alternative company health insurance provider; or
        b. SME clients who purchase their Select Policy through an intermediary; or
        c. existing Bupa clients who hold a policy for any Bupa product or service for the benefit of their employees.
  14. The Fixed Price Offer guarantees the price of the Select Policy for 2 years. However, this is not protected from any increases in Insurance Premium Tax (“IPT”) at the first renewal. Changes to the Select Policy made during the 2-year fixed period may also affect the price at the first renewal, although the rate per member will remain fixed. Examples of changes to the Select Policy include (but are not limited to): adding or removing members from the Select Policy, complimentary babies becoming paid-for child dependants at the first renewal, and child-dependants reaching the age of 24 during the first fixed year who would then be required to pay the adult rate in the second fixed year.
  15. Please note, you may not be able to amend the benefit options of the Select Policy at the first renewal when choosing the Fixed Price Offer.
  16. When calculating renewal prices for a Select Policy after the Fixed Price Offer has ended, Bupa considers additional factors such as (but not limited to) claims history, age of members, the rising cost of healthcare and IPT, which will be factored into each year’s renewal subscription.
  17. Bupa will use any personal information in accordance with its privacy notice which can be found at bupa.co.uk/privacy
  18. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Bupa and its group companies shall not be liable to the SME client or any of its employees for any claims, damages, losses or any other liabilities whatsoever arising under or in connection with the operation of the Offer.
  19. These terms and conditions shall be governed by English law and the parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

    ‡ With our Preventative Care Promise we guarantee that there will be no unexpected costs for you to pay on your covered preventative dental treatment, if you have Dental Plan Level 3,4 or 5. Preventative treatments we cover, are up to two routine examinations per year, up to two appointments for a 30 minute scale and polish, and unlimited small X-rays up to your policy’s annual benefit limits. Any claims for orthodontic, dental injury treatment and oral cancer cannot be processed by the dental centre and claim form must be submitted.
