Training and qualifications

Benjamin Mather qualified from Barts and The Royal London Hospital in 2007, after previously completing a Pharmacology degree in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. He was awarded the Evelyn-Sprawson Prize for Overall Outstanding Academia and the John Drummond Prize for Research, and is still an active member of the Old Londoners’ Society.

Following graduation he was selected for the London Deanery GPT scheme – a two year foundation towards specialist pathway training, involving honorary oral and maxillofacial posts at the Great Western Hospital, Swindon, and house officer back at the Royal London Hospital in restorative dentistry and oral surgery. During this time, Ben completed memberships from the Royal College of Surgeons, England, both in surgery and general practice.

In 2009, and after working in hospital and general practice in London, Ben started his implant mentorship under ADI and the training pathway of ITI, with a placement at Pentangle. In 2012, he completed his early implant training by gaining the Diploma in Implant Dentistry from The Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. He also attended and became a member of the EAO (European Academy of Osseointegration), BAAD (British Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry), and BSOS (British Society of Occlusal Studies).

He also became interested in exploring prevention and teaching access and facilitation, and in 2017 he gained his Postgraduate Certificate in Medical and Dental Education through NHS England.

Currently Ben is teaching and facilitating with mentorship programmes in oral surgery, implants and some non-surgical facial aesthetics, and has been involved in published articles on oral surgery, facial pain and preventative analgesia. He is also revisiting his part-time honorary position at The Great Western Hospital in the oral surgery department.

Treatments offered

Benjamin Mather has special interests in implants, oral surgery, sedation and aesthetics.

Throughout his professional career, Ben has managed to travel and provide dental services in various countries including Fiji, Africa, Cambodia and India, receiving The World Health Dental Organisation Humanitarian Achievement Award. More locally he has assisted emergency care and minor oral surgery in deprived communities for Dentaid (sponsored by Bupa).

After 2012, Ben moved to London’s West End, working on oral surgery, implant provision and complex cases in private settings, eventually running his own business and sole clinical leadership.

Over the next ten years, Ben spent his time honing his skills and developing a cohort of patients from early oral rehabilitation through to end-stage maintenance and referral.

He is excited to be returning to his home town, having attended school locally, and is honoured to be working again alongside his teacher and mentor Rob Oretti. His other passions are writing and sailing.
