Francesco qualified at the Second University of Naples in 1997, where he also completed postgraduate training in periodontology (the study of gum disease) and implantology (the replacement of missing teeth). He completed diploma programmes in clinical periodontology and implant dentistry at the University of Gothenburg the following year.

Francesco then spent two years in an oral surgery unit with the Italian Army Defence Dental Corps. Thanks to a research fellowship from the Italian Society of Periodontology, he came to London. He has since completed a master's in clinical periodontology from UCL as well as a PhD. Francesco has been awarded an EU fellowship and two clinical research awards. He spends some of his time lecturing at the periodontology unit of the UCL Eastman Dental Institute. Francesco's clinical practise is focused on periodontology and dental implants, with a special interest in periodontal regeneration, aesthetics and implantology. He has been placing and restoring implants since 1998. He does soft and hard tissue augmentation, including sinus grafts and gingival recession treatments. Francesco has presented at many seminars and conferences around the world and has co-authored more than 60 publications and abstracts. He is an active member of the Italian and British societies of periodontology and of the American Academy of Periodontology.
