Following rotations in general dental practice, oral and maxillofacial surgery and restorative dentistry, he undertook his specialist training in orthodontics, gaining certification with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He completed further training to become an orthodontic consultant at Great Ormond Street and The Royal London Hospital.

Suhaym continues to practise orthodontics at Great Ormond Street Hospital as a consultant orthodontist within the craniofacial team. He is actively involved in research and has presented at national and international conferences and co-authored several publications.

He has also worked as a dentist with the Royal Flying Doctor Service in Australia.
