You can choose from three Bupa dental insurance plans, depending on whether you are an NHS or a private patient.

Routine dental treatment

Routine procedures like check-ups, X-rays and scale and polish.

We will pay up to £150 a year.

100 percent reimbursement for all NHS treatment charges.

2 x check-ups
2 x 30 minute scale and polish appointments
Unlimited clinically appropriate X-rays. Excluding panoral X-ray.

Dental treatment

For non-cosmetic treatment such as fillings, root canals, extractions, crowns, bridgework and dentures.

We will pay up to 75 percent of your treatment costs to a total of £700 per year.

100 percent reimbursement for all NHS treatment charges.

20 percent discount on general dental treatment.††

Emergency dental treatment

One off dental treatment carried out in the UK by a dentist, which is urgently needed in order to alleviate pain. Also covered is an inability to eat or any acute dental condition which presents an immediate and serious threat to general health. Including X-rays and repair of dentures.

We will pay up to £600 per year.

100 percent reimbursement for all NHS treatment charges.

We will pay up to £400 for each dental emergency and up to an overall maximum of £1000 each year.

Dental injury

Dental injury treatment that is carried out in the UK and is required as a result of an external impact. This excludes dental injury as a result of contact sports.

We will pay up to £5,000 per year.

100 percent reimbursement for all NHS treatment charges.

20 percent discount on general dental treatment.††

Oral cancer treatment

Any treatment for cancer of the oral cavity, lips, tongue and/or pharynx provided by a consultant.

No annual limit – paid in full. All of your eligible treatment expenses will be covered, providing you are treated at one our partnership facilities by one of our partnership consultants. There is a six month waiting period from the start of your plan for oral cancer treatment.

What's next?

^ We may record or monitor our calls. Lines are open Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm, Saturday 9am to 12:30pm.

Each NHS band includes the treatment offered in a lower band. Within a two-month period your dentist should only charge you once and at the highest band charge for the course of NHS treatment received. Likewise we will only reimburse you for the highest banded NHS treatment received in any two-month period. If you are charged more than once, we will reimburse you for one charge only. ††  As part of your Dental Health Plan, you are entitled to two dental check-ups, two hygiene appointments and clinically indicated x-rays. 20% discount is available on additional general dental treatment at your chosen Bupa Dental Centre when completed by a general dentist. General dental treatments include additional check ups and hygiene appointments if required, fillings, crowns, onlays/inlays, dentures, fissure sealants, fluoride application, veneers, bridges, extractions, root canal, mouthguards for sport and biteguards for sleeping problems, all when completed by a general dentist. The discount excludes laboratory fees, specialist treatment and consultations and emergency treatment and cannot be used against NHS services. Discount cannot be used in conjunction with any other discount.
