Asseel Al-Najjim graduated from BDS Mosul, Iraq in 1995.

Training and qualifications

She worked as an oral surgeon in many countries before coming to the UK and working as a speciality doctor in several oral and maxillofacial surgery departments across South Wales and England.

Asseel started working with Bupa in 2021, and is especially interested in treating anxious patients (both adults and children) and putting their minds at ease before and during procedures.

Asseel completed a Certificate in Implantology at Warwick University, 2014, and also gained a diploma in Restorative Dentistry and a MSc in Implantology.

Treatments offered

Asseel has an interest in sedation and incorporates this in her practise as part of her strategy to make dentistry a more pleasant and reassuring experience. Asseel can also provide other treatments, including facial aesthetics, composite bonding and Clear Correct teeth straightening, as well as offering counselling for patients who suffer from parafunction and myofascial pain dysfunction syndrome.

Oral surgery skills include:

  • Surgical extractions of wisdom teeth (both non-impacted and impacted) as well as other impacted teeth and difficult extractions under local anaesthetic.
  • Surgical exposure of canines and other teeth before orthodontic treatment under local anaesthetic.
  • Soft tissue biopsies, frenectomies and tongue ties under local anaesthetic.
  • Closure of oro-antral communications/fistula under local anaesthetic.
  • Initial counselling for chronic headaches due to myofascial pain dysfunction syndrome and treatment with splint therapy.
  • Initial counselling for sore mouth, recurrent ulcers, burning mouth and dry mouth.
