Hygienist Sakina Syed
Sakina Syed is a dental hygienist and therapist at Bupa Dental Care London Bank. Discover more about the treatment she offers and what makes London Bank such a great choice for dental treatment..
My name is Sakina Side, I'm a duly qualified dental hygienist and dental therapist and I work here at Bupa's Dental Care, London Bank.
So a dental hygienist will predominantly look after your gums and the health of the teeth.
A dental therapist can go on and do simple fillings in adults and fillings and extractions in children.
So we use a technique to clean your teeth called guided biofilm therapy.
It uses air, water and powder to clean your teeth.
It's like a very gentle spa treatment, spraying powder on the surfaces of this teeth to gently clean all stains and plaque bacteria of the teeth.
It makes your teeth feel amazing afterwards.
The the most unique thing about that GBT or guided by a film therapy is we put a vegetable dye on your teeth, which highlights to us where there is plant bacteria on the surfaces of the teeth.
This way I can really motivate my patients to improve their oral hygiene if they need to.
So they'll always have a look at that dye with me in the mirror.
We'll get the toothbrush in there, we'll get any little incidental aids like floss or brushes and it really helps the patient to be able to remove the part bacteria really well in between the appointments when they're not seeing me.
Providing oral hygiene advice or tailored oral hygiene advice to the patient is actually the the most important part of the appointment.
So we'd like to spend a lot of time on that because we want to make sure that our patients are able to clean their teeth really, really well when they're not seeing us because actually they're the most important people that can do that and we're just there to help them along.
I've been really fortunate to be able to have won Hygienist of the Year both in and in as well.
I've won it for the dentistry awards and also for private dentistry as well.
It's been quite a moment winning that I've had to put down all of my hard work that I've done both within Bupa, within my practise, the work with my patients and that of the wider dental community work that I do as well.
So it's it's I'm very humble to have won them.
