Mervyn Chin

Mervyn is an orthodontist at our practice. His career has spanned over 20 years in Asia and Europe.

He has a wide range of clinical experience in both adult and child orthodontics and has treated numerous patients in the Canary Wharf area since 2007.

Training and qualifications

Mervyn keeps up to date with the latest orthodontic technology including digital orthodontics, temporary anchorage devices, self-ligating braces and all forms of virtually-invisible braces. His qualifications include:

  • Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree from the National University of Singapore (1999)
  • Master of Science in Orthodontics from the renowned Eastman Dental Institute of University College London (2003)
  • Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (2005)
  • PhD in Medical Sciences (Orthodontics) from the University of Groningen, The Netherlands (2007)

Mervyn has been awarded ‘Platinum’ Invisalign practitioner status because of the large number of cases he has treated successfully. He is also a certified orthodontist for WIN and Incognito lingual braces.

He has also been recognised by the award of the prestigious WJB Houston Scholarship by the European Orthodontic Society (during the years 2004-2007) and the Ubbo Emmius Scholarship by the University of Groningen, for his doctoral research.

He is an active member of the European Orthodontic Society and has presented scientific papers at their annual conferences. He is also a member of the British Orthodontic Society, British Lingual Orthodontic Society, British Dental Association and the American Association of Orthodontists, and a Fellow of the World Federation of Orthodontists. Besides his busy clinical career, he maintains a keen interest in orthodontic research and publishes and reviews articles in several international journals in the field of orthodontics and biomaterials.

Mervyn is very friendly and approachable and enjoys working with his patients to improve their smile and appearance through orthodontics.

Mervyn speaks English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Malay and some Dutch.
