Hi, my name is Akeel.
I'm a consultant oral surgeon at the Colchester Specialist Dental Surgery.
My passion with surgery stems from a desire to help people.
Since I qualified in 2002, I have successfully completed 10s of thousands of surgical procedures.
I have extensive hospital experience having worked at various oral and maxillo facial surgery units across the country.
I have joined Bupa since 2020.
I proud myself in treating very anxious patients and they're both intravenous and inhalation sedation.
I can do complexity extractions, for example, impacted wisdom teeth or any tooth a general dentist is not happy to take out.
I can also do soft tissue surgeries, biopsies.
I can remove cysts or tumours from the jaw.
I can also do dental implants including complex bone, braft and sinus lift.
We use top quality materials and cutting edge technologies.
I also have interest in academic work.
I have authored 3 surgical books in the specialty and I have many publications and top journals.
1st, we reassure patients they are seeing the correct clinician with the experience and we use different ways of sedation like Intravia sedation or inhalation sedation or combination sedation.
For both we use cutting edge technologies like the platelet crutch, fibre and the PRF, which is a hot topic in medicine surgery these days to all about stem cells and growth factors.
It means we can take a blood sample from the patient and we'll put it in a faster screening machine called centrifuge.
So at the end of the cycle it separates the blood based on the like density.
So we will got the platelets and the white blood cells on top of the tube with the growth factors.
It's like a yellow Jelly clot.
We take that, we put it in the surgical wound so that makes the wound heals much quicker.
This chance of perfection or complications.
It's a multidisciplinary practise and it's nice to mix with people with different specialties and and share experience and I feel I can give my best skills and experience in Bupa.
