Hilary has over 25 years’ experience as a dentist and specialist (she is registered as a specialist in periodontics with the General Dental Council, London).
She works with our patients to diagnose and control all types of advanced gum disease, using a range of treatments from surgical to regenerative.
Hilary was on the academic staff at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, from where she had graduated and where she became a specialist/consultant in periodontics and oral medicine.
Hilary moved to Scotland in 1996 and was based at the University of Dundee. She then moved to the West Country and set up a periodontal referral centre, accepting referrals from across the South West.
Prior to joining the Exeter Dental Centre, she was lead clinician at the School of Clinical Dentistry outreach training programme at the University of Sheffield, based in Chesterfield.
Hilary is a member of many professional bodies, including the British Society of Periodontology, the European Federation of Periodontology, and the American Academy of Periodontology.
Since June 2014, she has been employed by the University of Plymouth as a clinical supervisor, based at the Peninsula Dental School in Truro.
Hilary has lectured widely in South Africa and the UK.
