I'm Nigel Jones and I set up Smiles Better along with my partner David Latchen many years ago. I now purely provide placement, planning, restoration and maintenance of implants for people here. Most of our patients are referred to us by colleagues who prefer to outsource the provision of dental implants and the treatment that surrounds that.
So when you come in for a consultation, we will be carefully checking your medical background, whether you smoke, whether you have a sort of grinding bite that is likely to destroy things, how did you lose the teeth that implants are replacing? Do you suffer unduly from gum disease? And then we want to get from you what you're looking for. Are you looking to be able to chew more effectively? Are you looking for a nicer smile? And from that, we then need to take scans, perhaps models of your teeth. We want to take time to make sure what you want is what you're getting.
So, I've had a reasonable amount of experience of both learning and teaching dental implants and all that goes with it. You know, what you want when you're stuck is someone who's seen this before, someone who's said that, "Yeah, this has happened before. It's perhaps not what we expect, but it does happen and this is how we get around it." So, you're looking for someone you can get on with, someone with the experience that matches the complexity of your case. It's just trying to get across to patients that they need to be at the center of what we do. And one of the lovely things of being in private practice is that we have time and we have time to listen.
