Chris Barker

In 2003, Chris qualified in dentistry from the University of Leeds. Following his vocational training, he gained experience working in general and community dentistry, oral and maxillofacial surgery and paediatric dentistry, as well as teaching undergraduate dental students at the University of Leeds. He completed his specialist orthodontic training at Bristol Dental Hospital and the Royal United Hospital, Bath, becoming a specialist in 2011.
Chris advanced his orthodontic training to consultant level at York Hospital and Leeds Dental Institute and has been a consultant in orthodontics since at Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield. He’s an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and England, as well as a training programme director for Dental Core Training at Mid Yorkshire NHS Trust. Alongside these roles, he’s involved in teaching orthodontic therapists as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Chris works with his patients to ensure their treatment goals and needs are addressed with all options explained. He enjoys treating cases involving multiple areas of dentistry, including oral surgery, maxillofacial surgery and restorative and cosmetic dentistry. He has close links with surgeons for patients requiring orthognathic (jaw) surgery.
