Ian qualified at Manchester University in 1992 and has been working at the practice ever since. He won the Royal College of Surgeons Research Award in 1999 and passed the Royal College of Surgeons MFGDP exam in 2001. He then went on to complete an advanced course in root fillings and gained Ian's Denplan Excel accreditation in 2002. In 2004, he completed his master's degree at Manchester University and a year-long implant course at Trafford General Hospital.

In 1996, Ian also began teaching at the Manchester Dental Hospital. He also won the Oasis Dentist of the Year award in 2016. As well as being lead practitioner at Sale Moor, he can also provide root fillings and gum treatments. Ian accepts referrals for dental implants, root canal treatment, jaw problems, and other complex cases.
