Ian has worked at the Practice since 1992. He holds a master’s degree in dental science.

Ian has worked at the Sale Moor practice since qualifying in 1992. Ian was awarded membership of the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners (MFGDP) from the Royal College of Surgeons in 2001. He also completed a course in advanced root treatments the same year.

In 2004, Ian completed a master’s degree in dental science from Manchester Dental Hospital. This was related to temporomandibular disorder (conditions affecting your jaw), and included a year-long implant course at Trafford General Hospital.

Ian is also a member of the British Endodontic Society, the British Society of Periodontology, the British Society for Restorative Dentistry and the Association of Dental Implantology.

Sandra has worked at the Practice since 2003.

Graduating from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 1990, Sandra initially continued to work in the North East as part of the vocational training scheme.

In 2003 Sandra was awarded the diploma of membership of the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners (MFGDP) by the Royal College of Surgeons. She went on to complete a one-year course in advanced restorative dentistry at the Eastman Dental Institute in London in 2006.

In 2017, Sandra completed a master’s degree in advanced general dental practice at the University of Birmingham. The following year, she gained her diploma of membership in Primary Dental Care from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

Sandra offers a wide range of dental treatment from routine care to cosmetic dentistry. She’s committed to encouraging her patients to improve their oral wellbeing through long-term monitoring of their dental and general health.

Gavin’s main interests lie in surgical dentistry and the restoration of patients’ dentition with dental implants.

Gavin graduated from the University of Manchester in 2004 with distinction. Following completion of his vocational training year, he undertook two years of general professional training within the North West Deanery. During this period, he passed his diploma for the membership of Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh.

Gavin worked in oral and maxillofacial surgery in the Pennine Acute Hospitals Trust for 10 years, treating a wide variety of oral surgery cases, while also mentoring junior colleagues. He now treats oral surgery referral cases in primary care under both local anaesthetic and sedation on behalf of NHS England. Gavin also lectures for Health Education England on oral surgery in primary care.

Gavin's other surgical interests lie in the restoration of patients’ dentition with dental implants. He has completed a year-long course in implant dentistry with the Centre for Advanced Dental Education. He also holds a diploma in this field with the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners and the Royal College of Surgeons of England – known as the gold standard in implant dentistry. Gavin now lectures and acts as a mentor for the University of Manchester master’s degree in dental implantology. In 2016, he co-authored an article on implant dentistry for the British Dental Journal.

No, orthodontics for adults is becoming more and more common. We can talk through your options with you.

We do understand that some people really struggle with dental treatment. But we have lots of ways to help put you at ease. Please just tell us how you feel and what worries you, and then we can work together to decide on the right approach.

Generally we recommend twice yearly check-ups every six months. However, this varies on a case by case basis. Your Bupa Dental Care dentist will talk to you about when and how often we need to see you.

Fillings repair small holes in your tooth enamel. If they aren’t filled, the decay will deepen. You’ll start to feel pain, and you could end up needing root canal treatment, which is much more significant and costs more. So although you might not feel pain right now, it’s best to repair these holes as soon as possible.
