Training and qualifications
Ahmed Al-Khayatt qualified from the Leeds Dental Institute in June 2000, where he won first prize in the Watssman Prize of Clinical Dental Practice for his graduation case report. He went on to complete one year in vocational general dental practice, during which he achieved first place for the FGDPRCS Yorkshire Division Vocational Dental Practice.
Following this, Ahmed gained five years’ experience in hospital dental services, working at St Luke’s Hospital and Bradford Royal Infirmary, the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital, Morriston Hospital and Eastman Dental Hospital. These roles allowed Ahmed to establish a firm foundation and specialist skills in all areas of restorative dentistry, including simple and complex implant dentistry, endodontics and prosthodontics.
Ahmed then completed an intensive five-year specialist registrar programme, obtaining a certificate of completion of specialist training in restorative dentistry and its monospecialties from King’s College Hospital Dental Institute and Croydon University Hospital. This led to his appointment as a post-CCST clinical and surgical fellow in head and neck cancer oral rehabilitation.
Widely published both nationally and internationally, Ahmed is a member and fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and England, and of The Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Glasgow.
