Ektor Grammatopoulos, specialist orthodontist at Bryer Wallace, Belgravia

The specialists at Bryer Wallace Belgravia are committed to delivering the utmost in excellent oral health care, alongside an array of treatments with the potential to change lives for the better.

The field of orthodontics is one which has undergone dramatic changes in the past few years, with the introduction of technological advances such as 3D scanners and new approaches to teeth straightening.

However, one aspect of orthodontics has remained constant: it involves treatments which can dramatically alter a patient’s self-esteem and overall happiness, enabling straighter, healthier and more confident smiles that can last a lifetime.

Ektor Grammatopoulos, our specialist orthodontist at Bryer Wallace Belgravia, is more than familiar with the impact a straighter smile can make. Beginning his journey in dentistry at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, Ektor went on to complete training in paediatric dentistry, restorative dentistry and maxillofacial surgery. This provided a solid foundation to specialise further in orthodontics, and pursue additional qualifications to be able to treat highly complex cases.

Following a ten-year period working as a consultant at Guy’s Hospital and a senior specialist teacher at King’s College, London, Ektor came to Bryer Wallace Belgravia to apply his vast knowledge and skill set to patients seeking exceptional care and treatment for teeth straightening.

“My day to day involves giving people straight teeth”, explains Ektor. “As orthodontists, we improve people’s bites and give them a great smile.

It’s one of the passions of any orthodontist; it’s wonderful to see a patient first walk into the clinic feeling relatively nervous about their smile and the appearance of their teeth, then walking them through the process and making changes not just to their smiles, but their overall self-esteem. It’s a significant change, and one I really enjoy seeing.”

Ektor’s specialism means that he treats an array of different cases, ranging from simple smile straightening treatments to more complex and multidisciplinary procedures, which may involve working with a number of skilled specialists at Bryer Wallace Belgravia.

“I especially enjoy working with other specialists, and collaborating on restorative dentistry cases and in maxillofacial surgery. These are often the cases which produce the most profound and compelling changes.

A lot of our patients come with complex needs and need more complex treatments. When we utilise the skills of our winder team, we can provide the best outcomes for our patients. At Bryer Wallace Belgravia, we feature a staff of many different dentists and specialists. It's great as an orthodontist to work as part of a much bigger team, improving our patients’ self esteem with each procedure.”

This collaborative and holistic approach runs through the core of what Bryer Wallace does best. Ektor recognises that while many patients come to him with relatively straightforward needs, many also come to the practice with a clear idea of the level of results they want and the kind of care it will require.

“Sometimes as an orthodontist I work with cosmetic dentists. Once my patients have completed their orthodontic treatment - that is, once we have improved their bite and the straightness of their teeth - many of them will want to see our cosmetic dentist for various different treatments ranging from teeth whitening to high-end cosmetic dentistry. This may involve having composite restorations.

As an orthodontist, I always strive to provide perfectly straight teeth. However, if the teeth have small cracks or other imperfections, the patient may want to see the cosmetic dentist for composites to give the best possible result.”

This kind of collaboration is just one of many examples, each showing that at Bryer Wallace Belgravia, you will receive the best possible level of dental care available.
