My name is Farhan Janjua.
I'm a specialist prosthodontist here at Colchester Dental Specialist Centre.
I graduated in 2008 from Manchester.
After that I came back to London, did a year training in northwest London hospitals.
After that I worked in a big NHS practice.
Think one of the biggest ones in in the UK, in Fulham in London past that involved actually working prison dentistry as well.
And at that same time actually, I, I was always thinking about trying to progress and actually further my career.
I carried out restorative course, which I loved and a consultant there and his name's Richard Port.
He was fantastic, really, really supportive.
I told him I wanted to actually apply for Prosthodontics and then I did that.
Unfortunately, I finished that in 2019 and, and I've been working since.
Prosthodontics is to deal with the replacement of teeth.
So tooth Bear as well, patients who require implants or dentures who have complex jaw issues.
So we try and tackle all of those issues together and we try and deal with those patients who potentially normal dentists can't deal with or struggling with.
And we offer sort of a helping hand.
Well, often you'll find with dentistry, there's not just one particular issue, there might be a wide variety different issues that need to be tackled.
And having all the different specialties under one roof allows you to actually liaise with your colleagues and therefore actually provide all the treatment under 1 banner in the practise over here.
I think actually seeing the patients and the whole journey from the very beginning to the end, patients coming in sometimes a very, very low expectations because they've been told that they can't have the treatment that they would potentially like or potentially being quite nervous.
And for us as specialists, the advantage we have is we've got time here and so I can trial things out or sort of stage the treatment in such a way where it doesn't feel feel overwhelming to the patients.
And then by the end of treatment, when you've actually gone ahead and actually done such a big transformation, patients are very, very grateful.
