Mamdouh Al Chihabi

Mamdouh's focus is on paediatric dentistry and he is able to treat children with complex dental needs.

Training and qualifications

Mamdouh qualified in 2004 from Beirut University. He spent some time working in general practice before moving to Glasgow, where he worked with children with additional needs at the Royal Hospital of Sick Children.

In 2008, Mamdouh studied for his MSc in paediatric dentistry Eastman Dental Institute in London- which is internationally-renowned for its paediatric department. While studying, he was presented with the 3M Winter Prize for the 'Best Postgraduate Student' in his class.

He then gained further experience in oral and maxillofacial surgery, sedation and paediatric dentistry at Nottingham University Hospital, Birmingham Dental Hospital and the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital in Sheffield. During this time, he also gained Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

As well as working at the practice, Mamdouh also works in paediatric dentistry at Manchester Dental Hospital, where he's involved in treating paediatric patients with complex dental needs. He previously taught the undergraduates at the hospital and is a member of the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry.

Treatments offered

His interests lie in the management of dental trauma, restorative dentistry for children, and pharmacological and non-pharmacological behaviour techniques for anxious children.

Academically, Mamdouh's work has been published in national and international peer-reviewed journals, and he has been invited to review papers for several publications. He has attended and presented at many national and international conferences and completed many research audits, analysing aspects of paediatric dentistry.

Mamdouh only works select Saturdays at the practice.
