Training and qualifications

Originally from Sheffield, Ekow graduated with honours from St Bartholomew’s and The Royal London School of Dentistry in 2007, during which time he was awarded the BDS Part-5 prize for academic achievement and the BATLAA Elective Award in 2006.

He then went on to complete vocational training in Kent before undertaking a hospital post in Manchester in 2008. In 2011 he obtained his membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. He completed his Master’s of Dental Implantology with distinction from the University of Manchester in 2014.

Treatments offered

Since 2012 Ekow’s particular area of interest has been dental implant treatment, which can provide a fixed and aesthetic solution for people who have lost or are unhappy with their teeth. Such therapy is aimed at improving each patient’s ability to eat and smile with confidence.

Ekow’s treatment philosophy is to provide an individually tailored plan to suit the specific desires and circumstances of each patient. He is aware that many patients can be nervous about dental treatment and therefore always aims to provide a relaxed, friendly environment and keep them informed of what is happening throughout their treatment journey.

Where teeth can be saved, Ekow enjoys providing all aspects of restorative dentistry including composite (white) fillings, crowns, bridges, veneers and teeth whitening. Where teeth are beyond saving, Ekow has undertaken additional training to make any necessary extractions as comfortable as possible. Subsequently patients can opt for restoration dentistry such as dental implants which can retain single crowns, multiple-tooth bridgework or removable dentures.

Ekow works with a multi-disciplinary approach alongside a team of experienced technicians and restorative dentists to help provide care to a high standard. Utilising digital dentistry and modern scanning/imaging software and CADCAM and laboratory-based 3D printing technology, to plan, design and execute patients' treatment with great accuracy.

When not providing care for his own patients, Ekow gets great satisfaction from lecturing and mentoring to postgraduate students and nurses on the topic of implant dentistry.

Outside of work, Ekow enjoys music, winter sports and spending time with his young family, particularly watching his sons play football.
