Training and qualifications

Shirley qualified in dentistry from The Royal London Hospital in 1992. She began her orthodontic training at St Bartholomew’s (Bart’s) and The London Trust in 1997. She achieved her MOrth specialist qualification in orthodontics in 2000 and after qualifying, Shirley was awarded the Houston Research Scholarship and spent a year researching orthodontics at the University of North Carolina in 2001.

She then undertook further orthodontic consultant training at Bart’s and the London NHS Trust, where she gained valuable experience in treating patients requiring multi-disciplinary care. Shirley was appointed as consultant orthodontist at Bart’s Health Trust in 2004.

Treatments offered

She joined Hospital Lane in April 2006 where her wide experience as a consultant and clinical lecturer enable her to treat adult and child patients who have complex needs and to improve both the appearance and the function of their teeth.

Shirley can also provide Invisalign treatments and has become an accredited platinum Invisalign provider for both adults and teenagers. Her patients particularly like seeing their ClinCheck virtual 3D treatment plan which shows the series of movements their teeth are projected to go through over the course of treatment. This enables patients to see what their new smile is expected to look like when the treatment is completed.

Shirley is actively involved in the training of new dentists and orthodontists and is a member of The British Orthodontic Society, The European Orthodontic Society and the British Lingual Orthodontic Society.
