Training and qualifications
Dr Gavin Welsh is a highly experienced oral surgeon and specialist in restorative dentistry, with an extensive background in both clinical and academic dentistry. He has developed advanced expertise across restorative and surgical disciplines, with a strong focus on complex multidisciplinary care.
Dr Welsh holds a Doctorate in Dental Surgery from the University of Edinburgh and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He has been recognised for his research in laser technology for the diagnosis of dental caries, reflecting his commitment to innovation in clinical practice. He has also gained international experience, including time at Baylor College of Dentistry, Texas and Panum Institute, University of Copenhagen, Denmark.
Gavin has held both clinical and academic appointments across leading UK centres, including Edinburgh Dental Hospital, Newcastle Dental Hospital and Liverpool Dental Hospital, and he was most recently a consultant in restorative dentistry at the University of Manchester Dental Hospital.

Gavin has extensive experience across all aspects of restorative dentistry, with particular expertise in the periodontal/restorative interface. Key areas of interest include periodontal tissue regeneration techniques, implant placement and restoration, ceramic restorations in cosmetic and advanced dentistry, multidisciplinary complex case management and restorative and surgical integration.
Dr Welsh accepts referrals for endodontics, periodontics, veneers and cosmetic dentistry, crowns and bridges, occlusal reconstruction and minor oral surgery.
