Training and qualifications
Having graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2001 with a distinction in Clinical Dentistry, Shuva went on to complete vocational training in the West Midlands.
She realised that she wanted to carry out specialist training, so returned to Birmingham Dental Hospital as a senior house officer gaining further skills in oral surgery and restorative dentistry. Shuva then undertook a senior house officer role in maxillofacial surgery in an extremely busy unit at Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham, enabling her to further improve her surgical and diagnostic skills.
Shuva started specialist training in restorative dentistry at Birmingham Dental Hospital in 2004, which she completed in 2010. In doing so, Shuva gained entry onto the specialist lists in periodontics, endodontics, prosthodontics and restorative dentistry. During her training, Shuva completed an M.Phil research degree in evidence-based dentistry and completed a diploma in Conscious Sedation.
After completing her specialist training, Shuva worked as a locum consultant in restorative dentistry at Birmingham Dental Hospital and ran the restorative service at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
Shuva has authored several publications in peer–reviewed dental journals and has co-authored a textbook “Contemporary Periodontal Surgery.”
