After graduating from the University of Sheffield, Mahomed was awarded the Diploma of Membership of the Joint Dental Faculties at The Royal College of Surgeons of England. With a focus on promoting and providing patients with the strongest foundations on oral health, Mahomed pursued an interest in periodontology, and he gained a master’s in clinical dentistry in periodontology. After he undertook further training, he was recognised by the General Dental Council as a specialist in periodontics. To compliment his periodontal training, Mahomed completed a diploma in implantology at the University of Central Lancashire.
Mahomed has held a variety of positions around the Midlands both in general practice and hospital. He worked as an honorary specialty doctor at Glenfield Hospital in his hometown of Leicester, and was a clinical teacher in restorative dentistry at the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital, working in the periodontology and restorative departments. These positions enabled him to gain experience treating complex cases and to teach the next generation of dentists.
Mahomed offers his services in diagnosis and treatment planning using periodontal skills to establish a healthy periodontal environment, which is conducive to maintaining the natural dentition. His approach is centred on motivating his patients and, wherever possible, non-surgical treatment. When appropriate, he uses surgical periodontal therapy including surgical regeneration and mucogingival plastic surgery to achieve optimal results. All surgical treatment is carried out using magnification and microsurgical instruments.
