Rajeshkumar Patel

GDC - 68384 FDS Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh 1998 BDS University of Sheffield 1992 Dentist

Raj is a dentist with a wealth of educational and vocational training.

After qualifying and completing vocational training in Sheffield, Raj continued to develop his skills by working in both NHS and private general dental practice. This experience instigated his interest in full mouth restoration and reconstruction, leading him to later develop skills in orthodontics (braces), dental occlusion (how teeth bite together), dental implant surgery and cosmetic dental surgery.

To advance his surgical skills, Raj worked in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Dundee Dental Hospital, where he gained his fellowship in oral and maxillofacial surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. This involved working in the accident and emergency department, treating complex facial injuries, in-patient management of trauma cases and complex facial surgery and cosmetic surgery. He also undertook surgical extractions under local and general anaesthesia, with or without intra-venous sedation. He was also involved in teaching undergraduate clinics in minor oral surgery.

After leaving Dundee, Raj worked at a specialist orthodontic practice in Northampton to gain experience in orthodontics. He also worked in a specialist orthodontic practise in Leicester and has accrued over 15 years of orthodontic experience using conventional and cosmetic fixed/removable orthodontic appliances, functional appliances, lingual appliances (Incognito) and Invisalign.

Raj practised at the Lavender Dental and Implant Clinic, which gave him the opportunity to work in a specialist implant centre. He has been placing dental implants since 2004 and has experience in all aspects of dental implant surgery from simple placement to complex grafting cases involving block bone grafts, sinus lifts, immediate placement and loading of full arch cases and using techniques such as ridge expansion/distraction in low bone volume cases.

Raj completed his training in the UK, USA, and Europe and has extensive experience in oral surgery. He’s been providing dental treatment under sedation since 1998 both in a hospital and a practice environment.

Raj was involved as a trainer at the Implant Education Centre in Leicester from 2009 to 2011. The following year, Raj completed a certificate course in dental mentoring with the Faculty of General Dental Practice and is now involved in training and mentoring fellow dentists in advanced dentistry, with an emphasis on dental implants. To date, Raj has trained over 20 dentists on a one-to-one basis and is currently a visiting trainer to over 12 practices. He’s an approved mentor for sedation and implant surgery.

Raj’s continued focus is on full mouth reconstruction and restoration.
